From California Legislative Chair, Lynda La Force.
(Current as of 08/31/2023)
California Legislative Chair, Lynda La Force is in Washington DC at the Legislative Summit. She asked me to share this information with our members. As of Friday, California has 39 of 52 Congressmen signed on in support of HR 82. Additionally both Senators have signed on in support of HR 82. If your Congressman or District is not listed, please reach out to them and ask that they sign on in support of HR82. (Chris Casey, Facebook, March 21, 2023)
HR82 - Social Security Fairness Act - HR82 Can make it to the house floor for a vote with just a bit more effort!!!!
There are currently 282 Representatives signed on, so we need 8 more to hit the magic 290! In CA we have 46 of our 53 Representatives as CoSponsors.......those that NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU ASAP are as follows:
#1 - Rep La Malfa (R-Oroville) 202-225-3076
#4 - Rep McClintock (R-Elk Grove) 202-225-2511
#12 - Rep Pelosi (D-San Francisco) 202-225-4965
#21 - Rep Valadao (R-Hanford) 202-225-4695
#22 - Rep Conway (NEW-replaced Nunes) (R-Fresno/Visalia) 202-225-2523
#23 - Rep McCarthy (R-Bakersfield) 202-225-2915
#50 - Rep Issa (R-San Diego) 202-225-5672
Important points ===If you aren't in one of these districts, more than likely you KNOW someone who is. Reach out and ask them to contact their rep. A simple google search will get you to your reps website and provide you the means to email them. This morning I both emailed AND called my Rep (McCarthy). And I'll do the same again later this week. This isn't once & done. Rep Pelosi is vitally important - - we need many people from her district in SF to contact her. She can get this bill to the floor for a vote! This needs to be done ASAP - - - If this doesn't pass this year in the 117th Congress, we have to start over from scratch come January 2023. You simply need to ASK them to sign on and support this important legislation to bring fairness to the social security benefits that you paid for, allowing your full benefit as well as survivor benefit to your spouse. This is a CALL TO ACTION - - we're down to the wire, let's GO!!!!Thank you - - Lynda La Force
